An Erie, Pennsylvania fitness and spa business is at the center of a major sex trafficking investigation. Four individuals, including the spa’s owner and three family members, are facing serious felony charges. The business, Totally You Fitness and Spa on Peach Street, allegedly operated a commercial sex ring under the cover of massage and wellness services.
Authorities say the operation went far beyond fitness. The charges include promoting prostitution, conspiracy, operating a corrupt organization, and profiting from unlawful activities. The business allegedly presented itself as a health spa but had no licensed massage therapists on staff.
Investigation Uncovers Exploitation Tactics
Law enforcement began looking into the spa after receiving information from the 51st Statewide Investigating Grand Jury. Investigators found that between 2016 and 2024, 20 to 30 people may have worked at the spa as commercial sex workers. Employees were reportedly given fake names and coached to keep the nature of their work secret. Payment was said to be primarily in the form of tips for sexual services.
During a police search, authorities uncovered evidence including a customer logbook and items commonly linked to commercial sex activity. These findings helped support the wide-reaching charges now filed against the business operators.
52 Alleged Sex Buyers Also Charged
In addition to the charges against the business operators, 52 people who allegedly purchased sex services from the spa have also been charged. These cases will be handled separately by the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.
The arrests are part of a broader effort by state and local agencies to crack down on sex trafficking. Investigators believe the spa targeted vulnerable people, including those facing addiction or homelessness, and pushed them into illegal work under false pretenses.
Legal Process Moving Forward
The state Attorney General’s Office and Erie County prosecutors will handle the legal proceedings. All defendants are considered innocent unless proven guilty. The case is another reminder of how trafficking can be hidden in plain sight.
