One person was hospitalized Tuesday evening after a fire erupted inside a home on East 17th Street in Erie. The fire was reported around 5:33 p.m., with the caller trapped in one of the apartments as flames spread quickly.
Erie firefighters responded quickly and were able to get inside the building to rescue the trapped resident. Crews managed to contain and fully extinguish the fire in just about 15 minutes, thanks to their fast action and teamwork.
The rescued occupant was taken to the hospital with injuries, though their condition has not yet been shared. Officials are still working to determine what caused the fire.
