Erie County Settles Debt With ECGRA After Audit

Erie County has issued a payment of $538,000 to the Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority (ECGRA) after a state audit revealed the money was owed. The payment comes after initial reluctance from County Executive Brenton Davis to comply with the Pennsylvania Auditor General’s request.

The audit confirmed ECGRA’s operations were clean and transparent. However, the check from the county does not cover funds owed from the most recent fiscal year.

According to ECGRA’s executive director, that adds another $170,000 to the tab still unpaid.

To prevent future disputes, ECGRA is calling for a formal reconciliation process between the county and the authority. This would help both parties agree on annual revenue splits and avoid similar delays.

The county council had supported the payment and pushed for resolution. With this issue largely settled, ECGRA is hopeful about building a better working relationship with the current administration.

The PA Auditor General previously confirmed that ECGRA followed all rules and procedures properly, easing concerns raised by county officials.
