A man was hospitalized Sunday morning after an alleged assault involving a knife in Jamestown. Police responded to a call around 10:15 a.m. and found a person on the sidewalk with serious facial injuries.
Authorities say 34-year-old David Rodriguez punched the victim in the face while holding a knife. Though the knife was not reportedly used to stab, the presence of the weapon heightened the seriousness of the attack.
Rodriguez was arrested at the scene and taken to the Jamestown City Jail. He now faces four charges, including assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and two counts of criminal contempt.
The injured individual was transported to UPMC Chautauqua by ALSTAR EMS for treatment. The Jamestown Fire Department and Chautauqua County EMS also assisted at the scene.
