Erie police have filed serious charges in connection with a Wallace Street arson case that damaged a home and endangered the lives of its occupants last week.
Authorities have charged 18-year-old Dashinara Dorsey with multiple felony counts of arson and more than a dozen other related offenses. The charges stem from an incident on September 10, when police say Dorsey made threats to set a house on fire following an argument over money.
Fire Threats Quickly Turned Into Reality
According to investigators, Dorsey allegedly set a piece of paper on fire inside the first-floor living room of the home located in the 2100 block of Wallace Street. Another person inside the home was able to extinguish that fire before it spread.
However, police say Dorsey went to the back of the house shortly after. Within six minutes, flames were discovered, and the house was actively burning.
No Injuries, But Family Shaken
At the time of the Wallace Street arson case, four people were inside the house, including a 4-year-old child. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the fire caused damage to the home and left residents shaken.
The Wallace Street arson case remains under investigation. Dorsey now faces a long list of charges as legal proceedings move forward.
