Thousands in PA to Receive Checks from $9.2M Treasury Program

Thousands of Pennsylvanians are about to find some unexpected money in their mailboxes. The Pennsylvania Treasury has started sending out the second round of checks as part of its Pennsylvania Money Match program, returning a total of $9.2 million to residents.

What Is the Pennsylvania Money Match?

This program automatically matches residents with funds they’re owed from sources like closed bank accounts, uncashed checks, or unpaid insurance policies. If a person is owed $500 or less, the Treasury sends a check directly—no claim needed. The idea is to simplify the process and get money back into people’s hands quickly.

Thousands of Checks Already on the Way

More than 39,000 checks are being sent in this latest round. Another 40,000 notification letters will be mailed in August to inform people about upcoming payments. These checks come after a successful first round that delivered $1.7 million to Pennsylvanians.

It’s Real Money—Don’t Ignore It

Officials stress that this is a legitimate program. If you receive one of these checks, it is real, and you should cash it. The funds can help with everyday expenses like food, gas, and housing.

If you didn’t receive a check but think you may be owed money, you can search for unclaimed property held by the State Treasury.

It’s worth checking—many people have money waiting and don’t even know it.
